Angels to Name Jerry DiPoto GM

Arizona Diamondbacks executive Jerry DiPoto will be the next general manager of the Los Angeles Angels.

He will be introduced at a Saturday press conference at noon PT since Major League Baseball discourages announcement during the World Series. Game 7 is Friday night.

DiPoto has been senior vice president of scouting and player development for Arizona. He replaces Tony Reagins, who resigned in September.

I love this move. DiPoto has playing experience, along with being the senior VP of scouting and player development for the D-Backs. He was even the intern GM for them, completing the Haren trade that landed them Skaggs amongst others. DiPoto also traded Jackson for Hudson, who has dominant for the D-Backs. According to MLB Trade Rumors, he was the #1 GM candidate out there.
