We will be starting our 5th annual SI player rankings.  Last year we only go to the SF position, but I'm quite determined to get the rankings completely finished this year.

Don't be afraid to share your opinion, whether it's a popular one or not.  We will once again be going 10 spots deep at all 5 positions.

Please remember these two things, please vote on the polls and vote for the best player, don't be a homer.  Most of the polls will be open 24 hours, but if the first place vote getter gets 5 or more votes than the second vote getter than I will close the thread if I'm around. Nola and I will be guys running the polls in order to try to get this done this time around.

Remember, this is based on who is currently the best player, not who has the potential to be the best.  Who would you take today?

What did it for me is his offensive abilities paired with his rebounding.. Not as good a defender as Tyson or Drummond but, better then the credit he gets

Yes^

Something that we have talked about at length, I don't think he's a top 10 C right now

Then how exactly does he rank top ten in defensive rating, defensive win shares, and block percentage?
Is he an all-NBA defender? Obviously not. But saying he's not a top 10 center is just ignorant imo.
He's probably the best rebounder in the league too.
And he was top 20 in player efficiency rating. Every player on that top 20 list is going to end up being voted on as top 10 at their position.

Shot blocking and rebounding does not equal = great defender.  Like we've discussed, he displays poor foot work defensively, poor awareness, questionable rotations, he led the NBA in fouls, of guys who played 30+ minutes a night he gave up the fifth most finishes a night at the rim, and the fg% he allowed at the rim didn't really set him apart.

and he's not top 10 because Gasol, Cousins, Dwight, Horford, Jordan, Gobert, Chandler, Vucecic, Lopez, and Bogut are all better.  Maybe he is 10th, maybe he's better than Lopez, but those other 9 are definitely better than him.   I completely believe he will be among this list next season, but he isn't there yet.

But the proof is in the pudding. Like I said he is not an amazing defender, and I realize most of what you just said about him defensively is true. But like my previous post said despite those shortcomings he provided results that put him top 10 in defensive win shares and defensive rating. And that's in the league, not just among centers.

While he does have a ways to go to become an even better defender, he's still pretty darn good.

And putting him behind Bogut and Lopez is just disrespectful.

Behind Lopez maybe, but nobody should argue he's better than Bogut.

Are you just voting based on defense? Cause that's about all Bogut brings.
I don't have any stats to back it up, but Drummond is probably just about as good on the pick and roll than DeAndre Jordan. And if he isn't it's cause he's playing with far inferior point guards.

Drummond was the third worst FT shooter in the entire league for those who played 25+ games

That's huge.
