So the NBA is only an offensive league?

Just because a guy doesn't necessarily fit with a team doesn't mean anything. A lot of players lose value by going to one team or another.
That's kind of funny, since I preach defense far more than anyone else on this site. Defense > Offense. So many of yall on SI want to crown all these young players when very few of them even play a lick of defense.

Please oh please oh please don't tell me you really believe Granger or Gay are better defensive players than Pierce?

That is so laughable.

The best defender on this list is Iggy..I believe he started over Granger/Gay for the usa team last summer

And PP can't be overrated and over the hill just because his game doesn't rely on athletic ability..It's built more around skill...

According to http://www.basketball-reference.com,

Pierce has a defensive rating of 101, Gay has a 105 (you want the low number). Their defensive win shares: 5.1 (PP) and 2.8 (RG)

PP's offensive rating is 116, Gay's is 108 (you want a high number). Their offensive win shares: 6.5 (PP) and 2.7 (RG)

overall, Pierce has a +6.1 Win Share total over Rudy Gay

Pierce is better

pierce was better, this past season even, but im looking at this as RIGHT NOW

going forward, and im talking immediately forward, Rudy is going to surpass him
this past season he really grew and it's too bad he missed about 30 games

People are saying, "his scoring has dropped since 2007 because he's getting old"

while age may have some factor, the reason he wasnt scoring as much was because the new style offense spread the ball more. In 2006, Pierce took the ball up, and went to shoot. It was him versus the world, and thats why they were the worst team in the East. He scores now much less than he used to, but thats because he touches the ball much less
