Nope. If you're in extras, especially in the playoffs, you play for the run and hope it's enough.elcheato said:If the Royals score, was the Athletics bunt stupid since they need more runs ?

Lol if they don't get that run this game would be over? You aren't making sense but I guess that's par for the course.elcheato said:The answer we were looking for is, yes, it was.
but it lead to royals giving an out which in turn basically gave kansas only 2 chances of driving in the winning run.CameronCrazy06 said:The odds of Hosmer getting to second on a sacrifice bunt is much better than the odds of him getting to second otherwise. That's the point! Having multiple base runners doesn't matter if you're playing for ONE run. The only thing that matters is getting that lead guy to home.
Like I wouldn't bunt in the first inning or anything. But if you need a run, it's smart.
Well would you rather have three chances with him at first where you either need an XBH/two hits/hit and walk/etc to win itsnipezo said:but it lead to royals giving an out which in turn basically gave kansas only 2 chances of driving in the winning run.
I still don't get how I'm the one throwing personal insults when you've been yammering about how my opinion's of baseball are "dumb" for weekselcheato said:Since I'm not making sense per usual I'll head out.

Having 3 chances of driving a run in is better than 2. Getting a base hit with a guy on 2nd doesn't necessarily get you a run.CameronCrazy06 said:Well would you rather have three chances with him at first where you either need an XBH/two hits/hit and walk/etc to win it
or
two chances where you only need one hit?
I would guess it does most of the time? Obviously given the speed on second. Hosmer isn't slow. You have an extra chance to drive in a run but you also need two bases (a double, 2 singles, w/e) to get it. It's smarter to just move the runner up.snipezo said:Having 3 chances of driving a run in is better than 2. Getting a base hit with a guy on 2nd doesn't necessarily get you a run.
