Indiana did not offer a max deal, and Hibbert is now leaning to Blazers unless Pacers match. One other unnamed team offered max.
Goran Dragic is one of several point guards on the free-agent market who will be in demand. (AP)
7. Goran Dragic, Houston Rockets, PG: The Rockets want to keep Dragic, but it probably won't be cheap. The Raptors, Mavericks, Hornets and Suns – who traded Dragic to the Rockets – also have interest. The Rockets already have point guard Kyle Lowry under contract, and Lowry has said he wants to be traded if Dragic returns. There's been some tension between Lowry and Rockets coach Kevin McHale, and Lowry's name surfaced in the team's trade talks on draft day.
Not to spoil the fun for suitors of restricted free agent Eric Gordon, but source says N. Orleans will match max offer if he gets one.

Chris Haynes, CSNNW.com Trail Blazers Insider (@ChrisBHaynes)
Portland Trail Blazers restricted free agent forward, Nicolas Batum, has been contacted by the Minnesota Timberwolves and what is being called a "serious offer," has been made and discussed and the two sides will meet in Minnesota later today to deliberate on it further, according to a source very close to the situation.

The detailed figures that are being mulled over is a four-year, $45-50 million deal.
The New Orleans Hornets and Toronto Raptors have also reached out to Batum's agent, Bouna Ndiaye, and meetings with those teams have been agreed on and will be scheduled shortly after the Minnesota trip, a separate source said.

Keep in mind that the Trail Blazers can match any offer Batum receives out on the market and offer sheets cannot be signed until July 11.

Last season, Batum tallied career highs in points (13.9), rebounds (4.6), blocks (1.0), and steals (1.0).

RT @KCJHoop: Hearing Rockets prepared to offer Omer Asik in the $8 million range annually.
Faced with the possibility of losing Ray Allen, the Boston Celtics are pursuing Dallas Mavericks free-agent guard Jason Terry, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The Celtics are preparing themselves for the possible loss of Allen, and began the process of recruiting Terry after midnight ET Saturday, league sources said.
The Mavericks still have interest in re-signing Terry. The Los Angeles Clippers also have emerged as suitors, sources said. The Celtics also have interest in Los Angeles Clippers free agent guard Nick Young, sources said.
Terry, 34, averaged 15 points for the Mavericks this season.

Nets and Gerald Wallace, as expected, are close to sealing first verbal agreement of free agency. No deals can be signed before July 11

Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine

Word is Nets' deal with Gerald Wallace, originally forecast to be in the three-year, $24 million range, more likely to be a four-year pact

God do I not want JET. He's a chucker. I'd be fine with Young tho, as a backup SG.

According to Portland news outlets, the Cavs are going hard after Batum.

This is going to be bad

Kyrie - Waiters - Batum - Tristan - Zeller seems like a good young foundation, but they're going to have to overpay for Batum.

Nets barely have enough trade assets for one of them, let alone both.

And also, teams have to pay 225% the amount they are over the cap in taxes. Paying two maxes, GWall's $8M and JJ's $19M, plus filling out a roster with 12 guys, they'd pay near $70M in taxes.

Minus Waiters and Zeller's contracts, which have yet to be signed, the Cavs have ~$18M in cap space. Even if they take up $7M, that's still $11M to go spend on Batum. Plus with Varejao most likely going, that's more cap.

They have the finances to go do it

Even if they have the finances, you don't spend 11 mill on Batum lol. Also, if they sign Batum, that means they're obviously looking to win a bit more, and trading Varejao, who is on a very team friendly contract for a solid big, would be a dumb move.

I wouldn't say that an $8.4M with an 8.3% increase over 2-3 more years is "Team Friendly"

He's worth $6M imo, not near $9M

He averaged 11/11 with very good versatile defense last year.

Look at the bigs around the league, who aren't on rookie deals, and tell me that isn't a team friendly contract.

Roy Hibbert averages 13/9 and he just got offered a max contract, they're talking about Asik getting 8 million annually..

Tell me Asik isn't getting overpaid there....

Hibbert is only getting maxed because he's an RFA, and that's the only chance he will stay. And it actually came out that Indiana will not initially offer him a max, and only will if someone maxes him first, to keep him in Indy.

Gortat makes a little north of $7M. That's how much Varejao should make

Gortat got that contract when he was a back up scoring 3 points a game.

His Nash inflated stats don't make that market value for a 15/10 center.

Nets, Hawks could reach a decision on possible Joe Johnson deal today, sources tell Y! If trade doesn't happen, Nets will push for OJ Mayo.

If the nets get jj they wouldn't be able to trade wallace though wouldn't they? Don't u have to wait a certain amount of time to trade someone after a contract is signed?

yea, unless its a S&T, david.

considering how the pacers dont like to spend huge money i think hibbert could be ending up in portland. thats going to be huge loss for the pacers but a HUGE gain for portland. asik getting $8M annually is way over-pay LOL.

i also dont see the nets/hawks getting a deal done now with gerald coming back.

see, Hibbert was offered the max
Marc Gasol got the max last year

this new CBA has weird maxes. it's like 50M or whatever(just guessing)

this is why i always say Harden is a max guy
