The Red Sox gained major ground in the WC tonight. With them winning, and Texas and Tampa losing, they now have a nice 2.5 game cusion on Texas and 4 on Tampa.

Big Papi more and more looks like he is returning to form as he has 6 homers in his last 12 games, including the 2 tonight (1 was a walk off).

Maybe Big Papi is actually still a good hitter.

Yeah, he is probably gonna be the closer in a few years once Paps sells out to the Yanks. I'll take the trade off though. Paps looks to be getting a little worse as each year goes by and Bard looks to be really good. Although he has had some struggles, he has electric stuff.

I`d say the story of the game tonight was not that we lost and missed the oppurtunity on cashing in on the sweep, but that Everett got a HOMER. He`s been nearly invisable this year, hitting wise, and than comes out of no-where and hits a 2-runner. Jackson struggling a little bit tonight, but we still one the series, which is big because we`ve been struggling on the road, and also, Boston swept White Sox, so were still 4.5 up on them, and Twins.

Howard is actually too low he is more important to that team than Utley imo. And Ethier is way too high on there as well.

He's definitely not in the top 5 over Prince Fielder.

Do you think Derek Jeter should have beat out Morneau in 06? because if so you're a hypocrite for having Joe Mauer so low.

Yes. Everyone knows Jeter was clearly robbed in 06, that was absolutely disgraceful how Morneau robbed that award and wasn't arrested. Maybe I could switch Mauer and Tex, but Jeter should be the frontrunner for the AL MVP this year.

Don't make me pull up the stats from 06, then compare Mauer to Teixeira, because everyone knows Mauer is the clear MVP this year, over Teixeira and Jeter.

It must be great to mean "everything" to a sub .500 team in the worst division in MLB.

Lets play a game called Joe Mauer is the MVP shall we?

Ok first of all, Mauer plays the most critical position in baseball, catcher. He leads the league in BA obviously, 1st in OBP, 1st in OPS so his slugging must be really good as well. Oh yea and look at that he is 1st in SLG %. Mauer beats Jeter in HR's, RBI's, and BB's. And would you look at that!!! He has 100 less AB's than Jeter or Texieria. And then add the fact that he doesnt have the same kind of protection that a Jeter or Texeiria has and you have your 2009 AL MVP.

Joe Mauer
