The nominations are in and it is time to vote in the point guard position of SI's all-time team. This thread will be open for 48 hours. Players receive 3 points for a starter vote and 2 point for a back-up vote. The top two will then be placed on the official all-time team.

please vote, discuss, argue, and debate each other in this thread, as this is the official time to vote. If you want to change somebody's mind do it here. I highly encourage you go onto youtube and watch highlight videos of these players and do some research. Here is a good source if youa re unfamiliar with some of the old timers: http://www.hoophall.com/

Also why we are waiting, the Shooting Guard nomination thread will be open here:

I voted Nash and Kidd, I think we should use now-a-day players, because people can relate a lot better and remember them alot more cause they watched them play...etc.

I voted for Magic Johnson as a big guard that can run the offense and over match any guard.

Then I voted for Clyde to come off the bench and play tough defense and score when we need it.

Magic and Nash.. you all don't realize it yet, but Nash is gonna go down on the top along with Magic.. only thing holding him back is no championships so far, but still, there's a lot of great players without a ring.

Nash would be in my top 5 tied with some others.
He will be a top pg when it's all said and done.

That's a just a common misconseption that he plays no D.. and he won two straight MVP's, and got snubbed on the third, which leaves him in the elite category of Kareem, MJ, Russell, Wilt, Bird, Magic, Moses Malone, Tim Duncan, Karl Malone and Bob Petit... that's legendary stuff right there. And I won't get into it, but we all know how he can take a team of used-to-be scrubs and turn them into something special.

It's not a common misconception, he jsut chills on the 3-point line so he can run the fast break. He will never win a championship on the suns either.

That's so wrong. He actually plays pretty good defense, he's always taking charges and he just basically stays in front of his man when he can and helps out in the post, just like he should.. not an exceptional defender, but better than he's credited for.

Phoenix Suns Myths

Last season Nash was in the Top 3 in the league in charges taken. You might be bent on steals and blocks, but taking charges is just as important as those two, even though it doesn't show up in the boxscore.

Nash is a good help-defender always acknowledged that, but his one on one man up d' sucks.

Steals, blocks, charges, they're nice. Brian Cook always takes a lot of charges, and Smush Parker can rack up steals night in and night out but that's all it is, they're huge liabilities on defense.

Nash was actually 6th in charges. Just thought I'd point that out.

How is it wrong? Do you honestly watch basketball? He couldn't guard Randy Brown one on one, let alone Allen Iverson. Wow, he takes charges. Man he is a great defender  .

This si about Nash.
Not Smush or Brian Cook I mean at least Smush is a PG but Cook is a PF who cares about Cook.

Haha you are such a novice... I knew you wouldn't understand how big taking charges is. What you just said is like saying "wow, so-and-so leads the league in steals, man he is great defender.."
