So what if there was such thing as a World MMA Classic? All major countries, compiling a roster of their best talent, bracket...the whole nine. What country would reign supreme? What country would pull off the big upset? Who would underachieve?
Of course it's easy to say that Brazil and the United States have the most loaded roster but the same can be said about the United States and Dominican Republic in baseball. Also keep in mind that this tournament would have to maintain weight class integrity.
So I was thinking that a bracket is formed with 10 countries (US, Canada, England, Brazil, Japan, Australia, France, Russia, Netherlands, Korea). Through a random draw, 2 countries are given 1st round byes and the rest are bracketed 3-10, lowest plays highest. First 2 rounds are best-of-5 fights while the semi-finals and finals are best of 7. Lower seed in each match-up has 'homefield' and gets to choose the first 2 bouts & the last of the series.
What you guys think???
