The Diamondbacks have entertained the idea of trading Justin Upton in the past, but Kevin Towers never pulled the trigger.

Upton has struggled this season, but may be showing signs of life.

If Arizona put the outfielder on the market, the interest would likely be intense given his age (24) and contract (three more years at $38.5 million)

This doesnt make any sense for the Dbacks. Young and cheap contract, he had a career year last season. I say hold onto him and let his stock rise a little more if youre going to trade him.

"They wouldn't be pushing it this hard in the middle of the year unless they really wanted him out of there," said one official. Olney hears that the situation reminds teams of the Rockies and Ubaldo Jimenez last summer.
