NHL sources told Newsday that Vanek, acquired from the Sabres on Oct. 27, turned down a substantial contract offer from the Isles and that general manager Garth Snow is fielding offers for the 30-year-old wing.

The offer is believed to be in the same range as Vanek's current seven-year, $50 million deal. That contract expires on June 30.

They need to deal him and get a goaltender, that's the only way he can really save face for this trade lol.

Unless he can flip Vanek for quality assets.

Vanek should be flippable for quality assets if he agrees to extend with another team

Sounds like the Sabres are gonna end up getting 2 firsts and a prospect all in all for Vanek (assuming we deal Moulson for a 1st and prospect, which seems likely).
