The Giants have claimed Padres closer Heath Bell on waivers, according to baseball sources.

San Diego has 48 hours to decide whether to trade the three-time All-Star, allow him to be claimed or pull him back from waivers.

San Francisco closer Brian Wilson is currently on the disabled list.

Would be a deadly late inning combo.

Doubt it happens.. Giants already traded their top prospect. This probably had more to do with blocking the Diamondbacks.

Good move. They just have to get a deal done for him, but if Heath Bell does end up with the Giants, that duo closing out games of Bell and Wilson would be absolutely ridiculous.

I dont think it is going to happen due to the fact that the Padres will be asking a lot for Bell and the Giants arent willing to pay a hefty price for him. That could possibly change if Wilson's injury is more serious than previously thought.

If Wilson's not hurt, what are the chances Bell wants to set up long term? Yeah he would help the Giants win this year but unless they're gonna win the WS again, it probably isn't worth a top prospect.

Depends what prospect it is

As long as its not Gary Brown or Francisco Peguero, I'd be cool.
