The cost of renovating Madison Square Garden will be between $775 million and $850 million and the final phase is scheduled to be completed in October of 2013.

One of the unique upgrades in the plan is construction of a skywalk that will hang from the roof of the building and be open to fans to watch the action from above during games.

Wow for that money, they should just build a new building. Almost a billion for renovations? Seriously? Just seems a little outrageous.

Is this really needed while the country is in a recession? For <Censored>s sake, save the taxpayers money.

That's amazing, they're setting the bar for future stadiums. The reason they don't just make a new stadium is because there's a lot of history at MSG and they just underwent renovations a few years ago.

We're HOPEFULLY coming out of recession guys.

But still, this is hella cash for a losing team. <Censored> history

It doesn't matter if the team is good or bad, the Knicks are 5th in attendance (ahead of the Lakers, Jazz, Celtics, Spurs, etc) and have been top 10 for 10 years +, and the Rangers have had 99%+ attendance for quite some time.

Also, the Knicks are the #2 team according to forbes in total value, and the Rangers are also 2nd.

Regardless of if we're losing or not, MSG goes beyond just the Knicks.

MSG isnt that big of a deal for me. Ive been there numerous times and its just the same as any other place. As for the renovations, maybe one of them could be to get those hobos near the entrance towards penn station and put them somewhere else.
