Seahawks name Wilson starting QB

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has announced that Russell Wilson will be the team's starting quarterback in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals.
"Russell Wilson will start against the Raiders (in the preseason finale) and will start the first week of the regular season," Carroll said. "He is so prepared, he does not seem like a first-year quarterback."

I'd be surprised if he doesn't ask for a trade, however I'd be surprised to see him actually be traded. The only team who really needs a QB right now and doesn't have a young guy developing is Arizona, and I highly doubt they'd want to take another chance on a backup turned starter.

Not surprised. I had a feeling that he might take the job over Flynn, with how he was impressing in the preseason. That makes that deal with Flynn look a bit bad now.

Good job by Wilson, dude had to really get over that height enigma in the NFL. Lets see what he can do in games that matter, I still think Flynn will get his opportunity and I dont feel bad for him at all lol.

I'm not too worried about his height -- yet. But if defenders start to see more footage of his release, they could time it better and bat down more passes than w/e the QBs have knocked down on average. Although he can run so that helps as well.

It was a bad deal for Seattle from day 1. Nobody knew enough about him -- it's like Kolb all over again.
