Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins doesn't agree with Jose Reyes' decision to come out of the final game of the season.

Reyes bunted for a single in his first at-bat on Wednesday and then came out of the game to preserve his lead in the National League batting race.

Rollins said he would have played the entire final game if he were chasing the batting title.

"I would have played the whole game," Rollins said. "I'm like, 'Hey, I fought this hard to be in this position and I'm going to see it through to the end.' My personality, I'm going to ride it out. I worked this hard to be this good and put up these numbers, I would like to see it all the way to the end.

"I don't think it's lack of confidence with Jose Reyes, but that is the way he wanted to do it. For what reason, I don't know. It could have been outside influences. His agent may have told him, 'If you get up there, if you get a hit your first AB, you come out.'"

It's terrible what Reyes did, and he deserves to be ripped.

Not only did he bow out after getting the hit to preserve a very likely chance of winning the title, but that was also his last game as a Met ever (most likely) and he owed it to them to play one last game.

Definitely deserves the criticism he's been getting. That was weak.

It was weak. I hated it when it happened. And like someone else said I too hate Rollins but I agree with him.

You play it out to the end. Thats the only legit way to go about it.

i dont think he does it if he's not a FA
he wont win any award otherwise
he was an all-star, but this is something else. no silver slugger, no gold glove, no mvp, no anything

A couple of batting average points weren't going to hurt how much money he gets, but his constant injuries will.

I definitely think his agent pulled the strings and influenced him to come out. High average or not, it's always nice to go into a contract negotiation with that one little achievement added to the list.
