Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reported Fielder is expected to announce his retirement, with the Rangers expected to hold a press conference Wednesday.

Prince Fielder's dreadful 2016 season has taken another bad turn, with the Texas Rangers placing the former All-Star on the 15-day disabled list July 20 because of neck problems. He underwent surgery July 29. Fielder is expected to announce his retirement on Wednesday.

A real shame.  This guy was one of the best players I had the pleasure of seeing in person.  He played the most games in the league from 2005-13.  Unfortunately, neck injuries derailed what could have been a hall-of-fame career.

Texas is on the hook for 9 mil annually and Prince to stay in the 40 man roster during the off season for the duration of his contract. meanwhile, Kinsler's still raking in Detroit.

Sucks for Prince though. After being so durable for most of his career, a neck injury has derailed what has been a very good career. Dude was a dominant hitter in his prime.

Sucks that his neck never got better.  Hope he can now focus on having a better relationship with his father.

I'm amazed Dombrowski had the foresight to trade him when he did. Probably his second best trade during his time in Detroit, after the deal for Miggy.
