Breaking Cubs acquire 1B Anthony Rizzo and RHP Zach Cate from Padres for RHP Andrew Cashner and OF Kyung-Min Na

No surprise. Epstein getting his former 1B of the future back.

Kind of bummed the Rays didn't make a better attempt. He would have been perfect.

I feel like the Padres didn't get enough back -- obviously his struggles in less than 50 games last season hurt his value but I didn't think it would be that bad.

Get the feeling he'll have a pretty good year in '12.

Yeah, I'm surprised the Padres let him go so easily. Sure, he's surplus but definitely think they could have got more.

He'll benefit from hitting at Wrigley vs PetCo

I've always thought of Rizzo as a potential All-Star, it sucks that he went to the Cubbies.

Cashner is no slouch guys.

I'm gonna miss seeing him develop, but am definitley happy to be bringing Rizzo into town.

Rizzo-Castro-Jackson is a nice starting point for the Cubs.

Sure Cashner's good but you trade one of your top prospects, acquired for your best player last offseason, for a closer. Surplus or not, one would think that the Padres could have got something more in value. I'd say a young power hitting first baseman ranks higher than a young closer but that's just me

They were selling low. After last season, Rizzo wasn't exactly worth premium value and they just got Alonso. Had to do something.

Depending on how Cashner bounces back, he could either be a #2-#3 starter or he could be a late inning relief pitcher. I wouldn't write him off as just a closer just quite yet.

I don't see Cashner as a 2 or 3. He's going to be a premium closer or a 4th or 5th. Maybe a marginal 3 because of PetCo.

If they try to keep him as a starter, he's just going to get hurt again..
