This just in from ESPN's Sportscenter. The Packers have reportedly offered Brett Favre $20M over the next 10 years to remain retired...

can they even do that?

discuss here.

All This Stuff is Crap... I mean, If A guy wants to play, let him play... Release him or trade him. I don't think that it should be allowed [For him to be payed to stay retired] that should be penialized..

Deal to remain retired...WTF.

If your going to do that why not offer him a 5 year deal, he ain't going to be able to play physically in 5 years, let alone 10.

This shouldn't be allowed IMO.

I hoped so for a while too, but reports say that he wouldn't even bother talking to us. :(

Also... It's been reported that Favre has chartered a plane for Green Bay. How juicy is this gonna be????

Maybe the Packers should just use this money on Ryan Grant  I realize they don't want him in the division, I mean who would want to face Brett Favre twice a year. Its going to be hard to find a deal because of his age. They should just either keep him on the bench or start him.

If they keep him, he'll only be a distraction to the team and Aaron Rodgers.

Well, that seems a little better then having to pay him for 10 years to stay retired I would think.

Well true. But obviously they're hoping they could possibly still trade him to a team out of the division.

This is getting out of hand. Goodell needs to say something about it.

I just got a boner.....
The Green Bay Packers, unable so far to trade Brett Favre and facing his arrival at training camp, are reportedly considering taking a step they desperately wanted to avoid: dealing him to a division rival.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, citing a source close to the situation, on Wednesday reported the Packers were considering seeking a deal with one of their rivals, most likely the Minnesota Vikings or Chicago Bears, if all else fails.
