Very surprising move by the Nuggets. Not sure exactly what happened to make them let him go this off-season, but they should've given him the extension. He's been very loyal to that team, and the players love him. Hope things work out for Denver. As for where Karl's next job is, don't be surprised to see the Clippers swoop in and pick him up quickly. They were showing interest in him before he was even a real option, and I think he's a perfect fit for them.

I think they peaked under him. Perhaps they need a new voice who actually tells the management that the team isn't good enough as is, which they aren't. The only reason they consistently overachieved is because of Karl.

So because he made them better than they were, the smart thing to do was get rid of him?

I think they felt like they would never get any better than they already are, and George Karl ended up taking the fall for that.

Which is funny because that team outplayed its roster by a mile this season.

Well, even if he did make them better than they were for several seasons, they were never good enough. Denver needs a gutsy personnel voice in there and if they're going to change coaches, now's the time to do it. I don't agree with the firing, but I personally think he's overrated.

Also, I'm not positive that he made them better than they were. They are a bunch of good players, if not a superstar among them. They played team ball. I think Gallinari could have made a big difference in the postseason, but he wasn't there. Unfortunately for Denver, they ran into who I think was the second best team after Westbrook went down.

Sad to see Karl go but he'll find work. I always felt the nuggets never gave him the second star he needed to get to the finals. I believe he could take the Clippers or Grizzlies to the finals with ease.

Karl was none too happy their GM ended up bolting for Toronto & I think this was a "best for everyone to part ways" situation.

So George Karl will head to Los Angeles and swoon Chris Paul's prima donna ass.....while Lionel Hollins will almost certainly be named the next head coach of the Nuggets.
