Why?

Middleton is gonna be a FA next year too.

If you're only getting one year from either player, Butler is the clear choice.

My guess is the FO wants their players (and any that will consider them in the future) that their all about their own..

Wont jump ship when they have a chance

yep. I think it will be hard to pry Middleton away, which sucks, because I heard the Jazz are interested.

I don't know why there seems to be some guarantee that Middleton stays. If the Bucks are willing to pay him what he's worth, sure he might stay. But it's not like because he's not as talented as Jimmy Butler he has some extra sense of loyalty.

theres definitely not a guarantee he stays

but its infinitely higher than the guy who just forced 2 trades since the 2017 NBA Draft and is a bigger name who would likely prefer to be in a larger market than Milwaukee

If Milwaukee does well this season, he'd also be more inclined to stay. They have a nice squad over there, and now with a nice coach, its a nice place to be.

If they under-perform again, looking to go somewhere else makes a lot of sense.

I think players generally like to feel wanted by their team, and if their team makes them a priority they are sometimes likely to stay (depending on the player/team...etc)

I'm kinda surprised Miami is saying no to that. I mean those are their best two players, but still. I wonder if Miami is saying 1 of them + 1st + like Tyler Johnson or someone.

Yeah seems like a easy decision for Miami

Bam is nice and will be great next to KAT, theyll miss him .. I think Richardson is a nice piece too but with the depth they have at the wing they can spare him

My guess is Minnesota wants to include Dieng and Miami doesnt want him .. or some hang up with Dragic or Miami wanting to dump a contract

Yeah i've heard they really want to dump Dieng. Which I don't really get. Yeah 3 years at $48m is a lot, but he's a good big.

You don't even think they are offering Josh + for Butler?
