After 24 years of being buried in the Upstate NY winter, I'm thrilled to be playing baseball, outdoors, in the February of Alabama.
Hows things going at my all-time favorite forum? A lot has changed for me in the past couple years, I know i've popped in and out here but never took much time to catch up. Much like Jarrod, I'm getting into the "old man" days and the older my kids get, the more the extracurricular shit takes up my time. My oldest son is currently playing a 10U travel team with Tim Hudson's baseball academy in Columbus, GA, which is about 10 minutes from my house in Bama. My daughter just began gymnastics/tumblers...whatever the hell they call it for toddlers. I also coach my son's rec-ball team; we have tryouts for the spring season this afternoon.
In any event, I just finished reading the merge thread & I command Rip for making the right call. Anybody who is familiar with the situation knows that the owners of CSS literally "snaked" me back when I agree to merge my forum into theirs. Reading the thread and all the shit Dave & And1 where posting; verbatim, the same sales pitch they gave my site and my members. Long story short, once we merged and we butted heads, I was abruptly cut out of the picture. Even though half the activity was via my member base & I had spent countless hours doing tech admin shit...I was stabbed in the back. Trust me, those pukes think they walk on water and the only reason they have so much activity is b/c the forum is overran by the 12-15 year old troll types. You'd rather stay here and work on recruiting more adults to talk sports, as opposed to losing brain cells over there.
SI has seen too long of a run to go down any other way than right here. I hopped off this ship in a mad rant, (a couple times), but I wouldn't want to see 9 years go down the toilet with broken promises and false pretenses of some merger with a couple of underage dipshits who are wet-behind-the-ears when it comes to managing a social outlet. I know things are at a lull here but it's going to take some updating and actually looking for new members. You guys can start by getting off your asses and updating logos....just saying. Even the most minor details are enough to scare someone away from registering.
But I will be around and hopefully contribute as much activity as I can. I'm not even a fraction as active on the internet as I used to be but I am still very opinionated and love to talk sports. With all that said, I look forward to hearing from you all and don't ever dismiss the long, rich history we have within the chronicles of this community.
