Commissioner Roger Goodell said on NBC Sports Network's Costas Live that if the league places a team in Los Angeles, the NFL probably would add two more franchises to make it 34.
Goodell said the league "doesn't want to move any of our teams" and "we probably don't want to go to 33" if the NFL decides on expansion over relocation. An odd number of teams would present scheduling issues. Goodell's statement is good news for fans of the Rams, Jaguars, Vikings, and Chargers, as those are the franchises most linked to a Los Angeles relocation.

I really don't believe anything Goodell says.

I don't like that. Why expand when you have teams with atrocious attendance getting blacked out during the season?

No team has ever moved due to blackouts. Just poor stadium issues.

You don't think Attendance & Poor Stadium conditions go hand in hand?

And I'm not against a team in LA. I think a team in LA is nothing but positive for the NFL. However, you've already got 3 teams in the state of California -- 49ers, Chargers, Raiders. I'd rather see a team like San Fran, who have an old, beat up stadium, move to LA. I'd rather see a team with a struggling attendance, like Oakland or Jacksonville (even though that would put 4 teams in California), move to LA. I think a move would be better, than an expansion.

PS. Forgot 49ers are getting a new stadium in a few years, haha. But there's other teams with poor stadiums that could benefit from moving to a new, state-of-the-art stadium in a massive market like LA.

Of course he's going to say he doesn't any teams to move, it would rile up fan bases. But, that doesn't rule it out.

That doesn't make any sense.

32 is a perfect number... 34 would make for unbalanced divisions.

He did say there have been "no discussions on expansion or relocation."

Vegas is more in the mix than Columbus. Ohio already has two teams that few fans support.
