Well, we now have an explanation for Glen Coffee's mysterious absence from training camp.

According to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, Coffee has retired.

Per Maiocco, Coffee exits the game after drawing the ire of position coach Tom Rathman by getting blown up by Mike Balogun on a blitz.

A third-round pick in 2009 out of Alabama, Coffee had 83 carries for 226 yards in 14 appearances as a rookie, with two starts.

The 49ers are left with Frank Gore, Michael Robinson, and Anthony Dixon at running back. We've got a feeling that they'll be making a move to replace Coffee, soon.

That was out of nowhere

Especially when you can get paid a couple million to sit on a bench.
He was doing great when Gore was injured last season. He could really be a good #2 back for the 9ers. But I guess they'll either sign one or keep going with Michael Robinson

mr coffee should come to the eagles imo
I heard it's 100K

But still, Jesus Christ I'd let Ray Lewis smack the <Censored> out of me for 100K a year.

Ya'll are dumb if you think he retired cause of a practice hit lol.

I read he lost the passion of the game, and hasn't had it since his college days. So his choice isn't a big problem with me. Dudes shouldn't do a job if they aren't passionate for it, NFL or not.

I'm reading he is pursuing ministry and wants to leave the NFL. That is the reason. Nothing wrong with that in my books, all power to the guy.
