Drew Doughty and the Kings haven't made any progress on contract talks over the past few weeks and the blueliner is waiting for the club to contact him to resume negotiations.
Speaking on behalf of his client, agent Don Meehan reiterated Doughty's interest in remaining a King, saying "I think he'd be happy to stay if we agree upon terms that are acceptable to him. And those are our instructions, to negotiate with L.A. on that basis to secure something that he'd be happy with." It is believed the Kings have offered a nine-year contract at a rate of $6.5 million per season, but that seemingly won't get Doughty to sign on the dotted line. With an abitration hearing upcoming between the Predators and Shea Weber, it's possible the Doughty camp would like to use the results of that as a comparison for their ongoing negotiations. Stay tuned.

I expect him to obviously stay with the Kings in the long term. But they better get going on these talks -- Doughty is such a fucking stud.

Yeah. Makes no sense to get rid of him

If they lose him, a big piece of their franchise is just lost

Right, right.. And completely thinking this over this is what the Jets are waiting for in respect to Bogosian. We want to see the deal that they throw at Doughty, and then pay Bogosian what we feel is respectable for his talents.

I'm sure a deal will get done, probably something that will take him to his last year of RFA, probably for 5.5m/year.

Bogosian isn't even close to Doughty's level.
