Chargers officially file for relocation to Los Angeles
Joe Thomson Jan 4, 2016 10:18 PM
The San Diego Chargers have officially submitted their application for relocation to Los Angeles.

EDIT:

The San Diego Chargers, St. Louis Rams and Oakland Raiders have officially submitted their applications for relocation to Los Angeles.

The NFL announced all three teams rumored to be interested in moving to L.A submitted applications on the first eligible day.

The Chargers announced their decision first with a brief statement from Chairman of the board Dean Spanos:

We have tried for more than 14 years, through nine separate proposals and seven different mayors, to create a world-class stadium experience for fans in San Diego. Despite these efforts, there is still no certain, actionable solution to the stadium problem. We are sad to have reached this point.

What happens next is in the hands of the NFLs owners, who will meet in Houston on January 12-13. The Chargers have pledged from the outset to respect whatever decision the League ownership makes.

I dont understand how the Chargers and Raiders being division rivals and their fanbases hating each other could possibly share a stadium.

Its like having the Lakers and Clippers share an arena....

Its not so much that it would matter, its just that it would be weird. Especially since they have to play each other twice a year so they would "share" the revenues for what is essentially an extra home game.

Well they are going to a big market. problem is the Chargers have a shitty fan base as is. All their home games are practially away games because other team fans fills up Qualcomm.

Well the Chargers are staying in San Diego for one more year. They have until Jan 2017 to hop on that L.A. deal.

They're stuck in mediocrity with a shitty coach at the moment, but things can change fast in the NFL, for better or worse

With the benefit of hindsight, they completely raped the Redskins in the RG3 deal, yet the Redskins have two division titles since then. Rams have zero playoff appearances.

This is bullshit, though.

LA lost the Rams 20 years ago because they didn't support them.  Fuck LA and fuck Kroenke.

They left cause they couldn't get a stadium. They were playing in anaheim at angel stadium for God sakes
Same reason houston stole the 1999 expansion

And its not like st. Louis is a football hub

At least they come to familiar territory. They were LA's for like 40 years

They wanted a new stadium with 20-30k fewer seats because they couldn't fill the one they were in, which led to blackouts.
