Dan Gilbert’s son, Nick, has done it again. Two years ago, Dan send his son Nick and his bowtie to represent the Cleveland Cavaliers at the NBA Draft Lottery the year after LeBron left. And it worked. The Cavs won the #1 overall pick that year and took Kyrie Irving.

This year, same result, as the Cavs won the lottery again making it 2 of the last 3 years.

Here’s the full lottery list:

1. Cleveland Cavaliers
2. Orlando Magic
3. Washington Wizards
4. Charlotte Bobcats
5. Phoenix Suns
6. New Orleans Pelicans
7. Sacramento Kings
8. Detroit Pistons
9. Minnesota Timberwolves
10. Portland Trail Blazers
11. Phoenix Suns
12. Oklahoma City Thunder (via Houston, via Toronto)
13. Dallas Mavericks
14. Utah Jazz

However, the Cavs made trade that pick. I’d agree with that because I’m not in love with this draft. I’m not on the Nerlens Noel train (his ACL notwithstanding).

With cap space, 2 first round picks & interest in improving fast, the Cavs will investigate trade options with No. 1 pick[/twitter]

I'm not surprised.  I think a lot of teams are intrigued by Noel but not many have the balls to risk taking him at first overall and then the chance the knee is never "right" again.

I really can't see anyone trading for that pick though.  We've heard what, 3 or 4 teams that wanted nothing to do with it?

Love or Noel.

I guess I'm alone on the Noel is a potential stud group. And I thought this before we got #1. I was totally prepared to be depressed with Porter

This draft class is either going to be overwhelmingly mediocre or they'll surprise us. No surefire #1 pick, in my book.

i think nerlins is gonna be good. ive said this. his impact on defense is insane and his offensive game should come along quick.

I'd love for Detroit to trade for it, though extremely unlikely.

If they trade the pick it has to be for an all-star, who at the oldest is 25. Any other way, it's just stupid.

This is what we've been discussion elsewhere. Although I'm not a fan of Trading Love

Thompson
Zeller
1st pick
Future 1st Lottery Protected
19th pick
33rd pick

for

Love
Barea
26th pick
59th pick

If that were to happen this is what I'd do.
draft McLemore @ #1, Porter or Oladipo or Cody Zeller @ #9, Hardaway Jr @ #19, Kabongo @ #33 & Rodney Williams @ #52
giving the Wolves a roster like this:

C - Pekovic / Zeller / Stiemsma
PF - Williams / Thompson / Cunningham
SF - Budinger / Oladipo (or Porter) / Williams
SG - McLemore / Shved / Hardaway Jr
PG - Rubio / Ridnour / Kabongo

As a Cavs fan, I don't do that deal.

I just can't justify giving up #1 and Tristan Thompson. It's just too much.

I couldn't give two shits about the other picks and Zeller to be honest.

Now I'm reading Calipari claim the Cavs scouted Kentucky more this season than any other NBA team.

This may all be early speculation created to add some much-needed hype around the NBA draft.

That's just smart work on the Cavs part. Calipari always has the most NBA prospects in the NBA, they could have been scouting a number of players, not nessicarly Noel.
