Yankees general manager Brian Cashman wondered aloud on Tuesday whether the team would have fared better with Eric Chavez at third base over Alex Rodriguez in the ALDS.

With that said, Cashman expects Rodriguez to bounce back with a typical season in 2012.

"You could argue he would have had a better division series than A-Rod because A-Rod just never got healthy enough," Cashman said.

"Chavy might have been a better option there at the end. But we'll get the real A-Rod back this year because obviously he'll have a full spring training. If he stays healthy, he'll be great."

Cashman stressed that the Yankees "did the right thing" starting A-Rod at third in the playoffs, though he may not have shaken off all the rust after spending most of the second half on the disabled list.

Rodriguez went 2-for-18 in the five-game loss to the Tigers.

"It took him so long to get healthy and the season ran out, so did his timing," Cashman said. "He was healthy, but was he ready to be successful because he still was in a rehab mode? I guess the answer to that question we all saw."

I swear Cashman says some of the dumbest shit at times, why say this at all? Why good does it do by saying this?

Its like the same shit when Cashman said the Mets knew Feliciano wasnt good anymore. These stories always come up with Cashman basically saying "We probably shouldve done this but we didnt."

ARod is a dying thoroughbred

Cashman is weird
what a weird quote

"chavez might have been the better option, but it was the best thing to start ARod"

contradictions
if ARod was hurt, why not DH him and start Chavez at 3rd?
