After serving six years as manger of the Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan, Bobby Valentine is coming back to ESPN's Baseball Tonight.
According the network, Valentine will make his fist on-air appearance during the League Championship Series. Valentine lead the New York Mets to the 2000 World Series and Chiba Lotte Marines to a Japan League Series Championship in 2005. Chiba Lotte opted against a new deal for Valentine, citing an inability to pay his salary. The move has caused discontent amongst Marines' fans, who have come to love Valentine.
A petition to re-sign Valentine featuring over 100,000 signatures was submitted to the team by fans...but to no avail.
