Adam La Roche to Retire

In a dispute with Kenny Williams over La Roche's 14 year old son being at practice. Apparently, there were no complaints from other players, but Williams was upset about it.
La Roche walks away from $13MM. I guess there is more to life than money.

Wow. If that is the true reason as to why he is retiring...good on him. He has made a good chunk in his career and if his son can't watch him play, he can go live his life with his family.

Chris Sale (under team control until after 2019) and Adam Eaton (under team control until after 2021) are upset. Eaton is the player-rep and La Roche had a clause in his contract allowing his son to be in the clubhouse. The union is going to get involved due to this clause.
Fortunately for the Sox, both Sale and Eaton have long-term contracts, so there will be a chance to smooth things over with them. Robin Ventura has a lot of work to do to get the clubhouse under control or it will be a very long season on the South Side.
