this may be the worst overpay of all time. talk about a contract based fully on potential

he's scored 627 points in his career. to put that into context, that's slightly less than what kelly olynyk has averaged per season

Embiid when on the floor is a great player. Per 36 minutes he averaged 28.7 points, but he's been in the league since 2014 and has only surmounted 31 career games. its sad he's getting this much money, because its not worth it at all

Had he not signed this deal, he would have been an RFA. The Nets could have sent a max contract over to him, and the Sixers could have matched that. You know how much they'd save off what they're currently going to pay him? ABSOLUTELY ZERO.

It could also be an incredible value for the sixers

i get why they did this and it is a good move but im really concerned with his health issues. i want to see him play more. the talent is there. he can be one of the best players in the league. he just needs to play.

Good for him, just really hope he stays healthy. Not sure if i believe he will tho. Sixers might regret this, but it had to be done.

Reminds me when Bulls got Rose and were relevant again . We all know how that ended tho . Fuck injuries . Again, i hope Joel stays healthy and kills the league . Hakeem lite in my eyes , but you cant tell me this isnt risky

It's a unique spot for sure

Hes been a superstar in his games played
But hes only played what, 30 games?

I understand those who dislike the move and say he hasnt earned 150 million. I get it duh

But bosox even touched on it, he would have received a max offer sheet and the sixers would have to match or truly bet he'll never be healthy, but if he was, they wouldnt be able to live with themselves. Especially since hes so young

So its either get poison pilled or just give him the money now in good faith

Its obviously risky but im ok with it

Good for Embiid, one of my favorite playere, but yea, this could be a mistake. They're a young team on the rise and just spent considerable cap on a guy whose played 31 games.

BREAKING: Embiid tore his ACL while standing up to shake the GM's hand after officially signing the deal.
