We will be starting our 3rd annual SI player rankings. The first year we did this it sparked great debate, I'm hoping to get back to that this year. Unfortunately last year I did not finish the rankings for whatever reason, but this year we need to all make it a goal to finish them. We'll be going 10 deep this year.

Remember these two things, please vote on the polls and vote for the best player, don't be a homer. I will leave the polls open at my own discretion. Most will be open 24 hours, but if there is one where it's a clear runaway then there is no point in delaying the voting.

Remember, this is based on who is currently the best player, not who has the potential to be the best.

I feel like Kyrie will get most votes here, but I have to go with Steph Curry. I feel like they're pretty close in some areas, but Steph is a more efficient scorer, posted better true shooting and effective field goal percentages, had a better assist to turnover ratio (and I feel he's more likely to get others involved), and unlike Kyrie actually plays something that kind of resembles defense. I don't see how you vote for Kyrie here.

Getting tougher.
I think you could make a case for many guys - Steph, Rondo, Kyrie, Deron ... If Steph can continue where he left off next season, he might be the right choice, but I'm going Rondo.

Rondo.
Maybe Kyrie will pass him next season, Wall could surprise.

Honestly, I'd take Jrue over Rondo but wouldn't take Jrue over Steph or Kyrie.

I'd take Steph and Kyrie over Rondo as well.

But, I went with Kyrie here.

This year will define Rondo's legacy, however

If Rondo proves that he can score, consistently, and he tries defensively, than he is without a doubt, a Top 5 PG. but if he shoots the same, and his APG goes down without the talent around him, then his stock plummets.

I don't think people are gonna be that strict with him. Coming off an injury, on a team designed to tank - he's gonna take it pretty sleazy this year.

I don't even think Magic would rack up many assists with that team either.

When he's out there, he should definitely look to score more, though.

anything worse than 17/9 from Rondo this year should bump him out

If you would have asked me last December I would have said Rondo, but around mid January when the Hornets played the 76ers and the Celtics in back to back games there was talk on a podcast that I listen to about who would you rather, Holiday or Rondo? Since listening to that I've been Holiday over Rondo.
