We will be starting our 3rd annual SI player rankings. The first year we did this it sparked great debate, I'm hoping to get back to that this year. Unfortunately last year I did not finish the rankings for whatever reason, but this year we need to all make it a goal to finish them. We'll be going 10 deep this year.

Remember these two things, please vote on the polls and vote for the best player, don't be a homer. I will leave the polls open at my own discretion. Most will be open 24 hours, but if there is one where it's a clear runaway then there is no point in delaying the voting.

Remember, this is based on who is currently the best player, not who has the potential to be the best.

I'm sorry, but I don't see how Gerald Wallace is better than Shawn Marion. I'm pretty outraged over here.

Gerald Wallace was traded for Damian Lillard.  I rest my case.

Shawn Marion was traded for Shaq and Roy Hibbert in back to back seasons.

You and I both know that Marcus Banks was the center piece of that deal.  He even tagged along when the Heat traded him to the Raptors.

WHOA WHOA WHOA

On April 10th, 1996, the Miami Heat beat the Charlotte Hornets, 116-95. However, if the Hornets had won that game, EVERYTHING would have been different.

If Charlotte won that game, they would be 42-40, and the 8 seeded Heat would then go from 42 wins to 41. That means Charlotte gets destroyed by the 72-10 Bulls in the first round, while the Heat would have the #13 pick.

Except the year before that, the Heat traded away their 1996 1st, along with $1M to have Pat Riley be their coach. So that #13 overall pick, the selection of Kobe Bryant, would have gone to the New York Knicks.

Also, that means the Lakers don't trade Vlade Divac for Kobe Bryant, which means Shaq stays in Orlando.
