.4 WAR this year. That's less than Jackie Bradley's 1.2 WAR and Bradley's hitting .214. Yeah Harper's real good this year. Let's bust our farm trying to get a player who wins us less than a game.

If rather pay him more than lose the farm. He's the real deal but not consistently. He draws walks but that's it.
That is a fair critique, but batting average doesn't say much, all I was saying.

Regardless, 50 games of Harper shouldn't cost much more than what Machado went for, but the Nationals cannot explain trading him to their fanbase without a massive haul so I doubt he gets moved

Theres always luck involved in baseball.
Funny you say "consistently good" from 2012 to 2016. The Orioles were consistently average those years. They won 93 games in 2012 but they had nearly a .500 run differential (pythag win loss of 82 and 80). In 2013 they were 85 and 77 which was not enough for postseason contention (and usually isn't). 2014 was their one great year, and they had 83 wins in 2015 and 81 in 2016. Who cares what happened in September, 81 wins is 81 wins. I don't call any of these years particularly good except for 2012 and 2014 and 2012 obviously included a lot of luck.

Nationals are the biggest joke in baseball. I bet Harper would rake for any other franchise.

They had 89 wins in 2016, and I believe they averaged 89 wins over that 5 year span

My bad. Makes them a bit better but still not consistently good. Pythag had them only at 84 wins then too.

Well today wasn't good.

Sale placed on 10-day DL
Bogs hit in the hand by pitch,

Not good at all. Gotta have our shit together against NY.

Even though we are winning, I don't hold high hopes on the rotation outside of Sale.

Dozier is low average power.
Forsythe had 2 homers this year, 6 last year after 37 total in 15-16

I overlooked that. That being said, there are better options even if he has flashed his brilliance at different parts of the game.

Dodgers didn't even need Dozier
If they didn't get him no one would have said anything about 2nd base

He helps us against lefties which Arizona and Colorado and the Cubs have enough of
