You know, that "hardest road" shit Durant was talking about in the offseason may have actually had some truth to it.

He certainly stacked the deck in his favor by joining one of the most loaded teams of all time, but anything short of a title this year will absolutely destroy him.  He'll be a meme for the rest of his career.

Like Harden's defense.  Nothing he does from now until he retires will fix it.

You mean exactly what Lebron went through in 2011? Seemed to have recovered just fine

Lebron didnt join a team that didnt need him and had a ring without him plus a record setting season.

You're right, but in 2010 it was basically the same in terms of people's reactions. Wade was a top 5 player

You guys are acting like people were reasonable back then and were saying "at least he didnt join the Lakers"

The reactions were nuts because he left Cleveland. Him making a new team with two of his buddies and trying to start from zero is completely different than piggy backing on the warriors core

And imagine the reactions if he did join the Lakers and Kobe, just imagine it

Lebron joining the Celtics in 2010 would have probably been the closest to the KD thing this past summer, but the Celtics were a dying dynasty, so maybe not.

Lebron joining the Spurs, maybe.

Either way, fuck em

Tim Legler, 2010

"He's sacrificing money, he's sacrificing his game, he's sacrificing his ego, to go somewhere he feels he can win. I don't know how you can criticize somebody for that."

That's a reasonable person. You can say the comment about KD.

Doesn't mean that that's the thinking of the casual fan

Reading through that, first of all it's worse than KD's, secondly it wouldn't be any worse reaction if he joined the Celtics. You'd get different reactions in the ball park of "can't beat 'em, join 'em" but nothing of the "Wade's Pippen" stuff.

People forget what shitstorm this was. Which is good I guess
