Don't you have to be in the majors before September to be on the postseason roster? Or do you just have to be on the 40-man? idk

Unless there is a player on the DL, the player needs to be on the major league roster before September 1.  If there is a player on the DL, anyone can be added to the playoff roster.  Don Baylor played for the Twins in the 1987 playoffs in spite of being acquired in September, because a player was on the 15-day DL and was not able to return before the playoffs started.  He was a big reason the Twins won the AL pennant that season.

That's how I thought it worked. I remember the Tigers calling up Avi Garcia on August 31st one year because they thought he could help in the postseason.

So why not just add a player like Verdugo on August 31st? Send a reliever to triple a for 1 day, then bring him back. Or am I missing something?

If you send someone down you can't call them up for 10 days.

I'm fairly certain if you're on the 40 man you're post season elligble no matter what tho, but I also don't know shit

Players that are on the 25-man roster have options (I believe they can be sent down to the minors for 3 seasons).  If a player is out of these options, they are subject to waivers if the team tries to send them to the minors to bring someone else up.  If a player is on the 40-man roster, they are eligible for post-season play if they were on the 25-man roster before August or they were an injury replacement.
Players that are on waivers are able to be claimed by another team to block them from being sent to the minors.  If they clear waivers they can be sent down.

Cubs got the central IMO.

They are clicking on offense and they have one of the easiest remaining schedules in baseball

Brewers are playing well right now tho and have a legit shot at the WC since Rockies are struggling

I know how waivers work, lol.

I forgot about the 10 days, but my point is if a team like LA wants someone like Verdugo eligible for postseason, they could call him up and send down a reliever or bench player who has an option remaining, and bring him back up 10 days later. I'm sure teams could get creative.

Lindor has had some struggles offensively this year but he might hit 30 bombs. Not sure who could have imagined that.

Its not even close. Judge got hot for three months. Rode a high and very unstainable BABIP and strikes out as much as Adam Dunn
