Meant to post this here and accidentally put it in the draft thread

Multiple sources say, Bruins and Recchi finalized a 1-yr deal and they'll announce it Monday.

Good little re-signing for them then

Recchi is such a character guy and he's been doing great recently

O.O

He's ready to become a #1 goalie again. Well Atlanta needs a goalie unless they're trusting the team with Ondrej Pavelec...besides that, I don't see anyone else. Maybe Tampa

Don't count out Flyers. They'd have to find a way to rid of some salary but we were told to be ready for a lot of moves from them this offseason.

I don't want to see him flopping around Consol Energy Center regularly. That would be terrible IMO

The Montreal Canadiens signed a pair of restricted free agent forwards on Monday, agreeing to terms with Tom Pyatt and Benoit Pouliot.

Pyatt's contract is a one-way deal that will pay him $500,000 next season, while Pouliot's deal will pay him $1.375 million.

Pouliot recorded 15 goals and 9 assists in 39 games with the Canadiens after he was acquired from the Minnesota Wild for Guillaume Latendresse.

The 24-year old was selected fourth overall by the Wild at the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Pyatt was part of the blockbuster deal with the New York Rangers that brought Scott Gomez to the Canadiens last summer in return for Christopher Higgins, Ryan McDonagh and Pavel Valentenko.

The 23-year old played 40 games for the Canadiens, picking up five points.
Good signings by the Habs. Pouliot showed some promise in MTL. Let's see if he can have a big season with them.

From Bob McKenzie's twitter
MTL ACQUIRES DUSTIN BOYD, DAN ELLIS AND FC FROM NASIN RETURN FOR SERGEI KOSTITSYNAND FC
Hmm. Maybe this kinda acts like a salary dump for Montreal. Not sure if they'll sign both of these guys. But if they sign Ellis, it's not gonna be easy for Price to win that starting job imo.

Price was rushed IMO and didn't benefit too much from it. He was one of the most highly regarded prospects...now he can't even win a starting job...SMH

Instead of signing a winger, Jordan Staal might move back to the wing

I don't want that...he's too good of a 3rd line center on that shutdown line and much better at faceoffs than Malkin. If anything, move Malkin to RW

Montreal continues to overhaul their roster...and I like it! I like Dan Ellis and I actually like him more than Halak and Price. Kostitsyn didn't fit in with Montreal at all, major character issues, and I think Nashville is a good spot for him to get it together.

Nashville Predators GM David Poile said on 104.5 The Zone that he hadsigned a free agent forward and would announce it on July 1. Obviously, this player isn't another team's free agent in the NHL, since that would be tampering. So it looks like Poile is ready to announce the signing of a foreign player.

At least one website speculates that the player might be KHL Dynamo Minsk' Jonas Andersson. Earlier this month, Yahoo Sports' Dmitry Chesnokov tweeted that the Preds were close to this signing, so this is a definite possibility. In addition, Poile hinted during the radio interview that it was a KHL player, so it looks like Andersson is the addition.

A Preds' second-rounder in 1999, Andersson has played five game with the Preds in the 2001-02 season, but that's the extent of his NHL career. He then played in Sweden, Finland and, finally, the KHL, where he scored 20 points in 30 games last season.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are trying to sign both Dan Hamhuis and Sergei Gonchar, but if they pull off the feat, they would have almost no money left under the cap to upgrade on the wing. So the Pens might look to a player on their own team for help on the flank.

GM Ray Shero tells the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that signing both those blueliners could mean a position change for either Evgeni Malkin or Jordan Staal. He said they "talked about it quite a bit," and said it's a "possibility moving forward."

It would certainly give Sidney Crosby a solid winger to play with -- something he lacked last season. But the Pens, who had the strongest third line in the league the past few years, would have to settle for a third unit centered by Tyler Kennedy.

Still, Shero might be willing to sacrifice offensive upgrades to have one of the strongest defensive units in the league next season.

As we told you yesterday, the Atlanta Thrashers will chase a forward this offseason. And Thrashers GM Rick Dudley told the Atlanta Journal-Constitutionexactly what kind of player he's looking for.

Dudley wants a 15-goal scorer, but the AJC adds: "However, don't be so sure it has to come with a free-agent signing. A trade is a very real possibility and, maybe, the most likely."

While we heard they were in on Marc Savard, it's unlikely Savard will waive is no-movement clause to go to Atlanta. However, the Thrashers were also interested in Chicago Blackhawks forward Kris Versteeg. And while the Hawks may stand pat for now, Versteeg might be shopped later in the offseason if Chicago gets the right kind of deal.

The Thrashers lose a plethora of forwards this offseason: Colby Armstrong, Maxim Afinogenov and Evgeny Artyukhin will all bolt via free agency.
The Calgary Flames don't have much cap space, but if GM Darryl Sutter buys out Ales Kotalik, they may be able to chase a mid-tier free agent, or a top-six forward in the trade market.

Buying out Kotalik saves the Flames about $2 million and, as the Calgary Herald's Vicky Hall suggests, Colby Armstrong might be a decent option in the free agent market. If the Flames look for a forward via trade, they could chase one of the centers that are being dangled. The biggest names out there are, of course, Jason Spezzaand Marc Savard, but GM Darryl Sutter has hinted he won't make any big moves this offseason.

Sutter has never bought out a player, so he might not actually buy out Kotalik. However, if he wants to make any waves this offseason, this would be the first step.
It looks like only a select few teams will be able -- and willing -- to trade forTomas Kaberle. The blueliner told a Czech newspaper (as per the Toronto Sun) that he think he will be traded, but he wants to go to a contender.

Now, it wouldn't matter what Kaberle wanted -- except he has one more year left on his contract, so whichever team trades for him will want to ensure that Kaberle wants to stay beyond next season. As his agent has pointed out multiple times, this essentially let's his client hand-pick his destination.

Leafs GM Brian Burke has said he wants a top-six forward in return and, if he doesn't get an offer he likes, he'll hold onto Kaberle until all the free agency defensemen are picked up and then try to deal him again. If he still doesn't get a good offer, Burke has said he'll hold onto Kaberle, but he might just be posturing to try to get the best deal possible.

Potential suitors include the Washington Capitals, Vancouver Canucks, Boston Bruins, New Jersey Devils, St. Louis Blues and Pittsburgh Penguins -- a surprising number of contenders. And one of them will surely lose out on a top defenseman in the free agent market, so Burke will keep an eye out for that.
The Nashville Predators traded for restricted free agent Sergei Kostitsyn, and they're likely hoping the young forward matures quickly and provides much-needed offense for them. But there's also a chance Kostitsyn goes to the KHL, and according to TSN's Bob McKenzie, the Preds would be just fine with that.

McKenzie writes, "But even if Kostitsyn opted to go to the KHL or didn't want to settle for whatever the Preds offer him, Nashville is content to put him in cold storage."

Kostitsyn has the raw talent to really help the Preds, who have an emerging core of young forwards that are slowly reaching their peak. But he could be more trouble than he's worth, if his time in Montreal is any indication.

Expect the New York Islanders to be quite active on the free agent market, with up to $8 million to spend. And according to Islander Point Blank's Chris Botta, they have a long wish list.

Botta writes that GM Garth Snow would like to add a top-four defenseman, top-six forward, tough third-pair defenseman, a depth forward, backup goalie and some size for the NHL club.

But as Botta writes, "He may have only one or two of the above signed by the end of the weekend. As he has wisely done in the past, Snow will wait as several good players slip through the cracks and begin to get nervous after the first ten days of July." So even though the Isles may not move quickly, they may be late movers.
Our previous update on soon-to-be free agent goaltender Marty Turco was that there were pockets of interest in various NHL outposts.

The Philadelphia Flyers reportedly offered Turco a deal that he declined, and then re-signed Michael Leighton to a two-year deal, so the mystery continues until Thursday.

One other option is the San Jose Sharks, who are looking for a veteran 'tender that is cheaper than what they would've given to Evgeni Nabokov. ESPN NHL Insider E.J. Hradek's educated guess at Turco's salary demand is about $3 million per season.

On Wednesday afternoon, ESPN's Pierre LeBrun tweeted that, at the draft over the weekend, he heard two GMs say that they thought Turco would land in San Jose. Anything can happen, but the Sharks appear to be in the hunt.
