It is time to vote for the top 5 players at every position. Alot has changed in the last season so this should make for great discussion. Please try and vote for the best player and don't be a homer! I'll leave the polls open for about a day or so and after that we'll carry on to the #2 PG and so on. I will add more players as we go since you can only add 20 at a time.

REMEMBER this is based on who is the best player, not the player who has the potential to be the best

2011 TOP 10 PG RANKINGS
1) Chris Paul
2) Deron Williams
3) Derrick Rose
4) Rajon Rondo
5) Steve Nash

I'm voting Kyrie #5 no matter what.

Going with Deron Williams #1 this time around.

I was doing this at work during down time, and I was trying to figure out some kind of formula to rate all PGs on.

I came up with: playmaking (1-10) x 4.5 + scoring (1-10) x 3.5 + defense (1-10) x 2 = rating/100

All of the ratings would be relative to other PGs in the league. Let's take CP3 for example, I'd give him a 9.5, 8.5, 8.5.

Gives him an 89.5/100. Bonus points would be available (up to 3) for rebounding for guys like Rondo, Westbrook, etc. I understand the numbers are arbitrary, but as long as we get enough people to vote for the numbers it'll be a good average. Let me know your thoughts.

What about passing? Because for guys like Nash and Rondo, thats their best attribute.

They shouldn't be grouped though.

Like Derrick Rose is a great playmaker, but is an average/above-average passer.

WTF is a good playmaker who can't pass? You're an idiot. Rose is not an exceptional playmaker at all... He's a great scorer, but just a good playmaker.

Russell Westbrook comes to mind. Passing should be its own attribute because its an essential criteria when rating a PG.

Speaking of Westbrook, Nola, you left him off the voting list.

Thanks, I went through like an idiot and basically added any decent PG then was like shit, only 20. I left like Nash off and realized before I posted.

It should be... Russ is one of the worst point guards in the league at creating for his teammates...
Being a playmaker doesnt solely constitute getting your teammates involved. Hes great at attacking the basket, on the fast break, and decent with the pick and roll.

Would attacking the basket not fall under scoring?

I'm not saying Yanks' system is perfect, quite frankly I think it sucks because the ratings he gives are completely subjective, but if we're talking about playmakers Russell Westbrook is not a good one.
