SI 2007 ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Nominees
Adrian Peterson RB, Minnesota Vikings - Even sharing carries with Chester Taylor and missing 3 games due to injury, Peterson is amongst the top NFL RB's in every major stat category. Leads the league with 5.7 yards per carry, is 3rd overall with 1,305 yards, and 12 touchdowns is tied for 2nd with Josepth Addai. Has 5 rushes for 40+ yards in 2007, not to mention owning the single game rushing record.

Joe Thomas LT, Cleveland Browns - Credit much of the improved run game and Derek Anderson's time in the pocket to Thomas. The Browns have totaled 1,732 rushing yards for the season with a 115 yard average per game. The team also has 3,531 total passing yards and only allowed 18 sacks all year.

Dwayne Bowe WR, Kansas City Chiefs - Calvin Johnson who? The top target in K.C. next to Tony Gonzalez, is showing that he can be a number 1. 22nd rated WR in the league with 69 receptions, 982 yards, and 5 touchdowns. 65 yards per game average and 14.1 yards average per reception.

Tony Ugoh LT, Indianapolis Colts - With a lot of questions surrounding the Colts' o-line this season, Ugoh has stepped in and been near perfect in protecting Manning and opening holes for Joseph Addai. Colts have passed for 3,885 yards, 31 touchdowns, and given up 21 sacks. Opening holes for the running game that has produced 1,660 yards and 19 touchdowns.

LaRon Landry SS, Washington Redskins - Great tackler who is all over the field and has a nose for the ball. Still settling into the position but already making big plays. Has 90 tackles for the season (60 solo, 30 asst) and 1.5 sacks, playing in every game this season.

Amobi Okoye DT, Houston Texans - Very young, even by rookie standards, but has settled in well next to Mario Williams and helped to much improve the Texans d-line. Playing in all 15 games, Okoye has 32 tackles, 1 forced fumble, and amassed 5.5 sacks.

Jon Beason LB, Carolina Panthers - Stepped in at middle linebacker for injured Dan Morgan and looked very good. Despite inexperience, Beason is proving that he can sniff out ball carriers in a hurry and make the tackle. 15 Games, 98 solo tackles, 32 assists, 1 interception.

Patrick Willis LB, San Francisco 49ers - Stud linebacker, solid tackler, all over the field, shown that he can anchor the Niners' defense. Leads the NFL with 162 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, and 3 sacks. Started in all 15 games this season.

I will call your bias.

Detroit can live w/o Calvin's 44 rec for 702 yds. Go ask Peyton Manning and Joe Addai how much tougher it woud have been for them if Ugoh didn't settle in and LT and play out of his mind. Ugoh made 10-times the impact and was 10-times more important to his team than C.J. was for his.

As for Alexander, 77 tackles is not bad at all. I like the looks of this guy at Safety for the Lions but I believe Okoye was more impressive.

Offensive lineman are overlooked. I bet Clavin Johnson gets more votes then Ugoh.

I'm not surprised at all. Peterson and Willis are beasts.
