The Yankees and Joe Girardi are beginning contract talks Monday that are expected to keep Girardi as manager an additional three years.

Girardi's new deal is expected to pay him about $3 million a year, according to sources. Girardi makes significant off-field monies, including from Taco Bell.

Girardi's first Yankees deal paid him about $7.5 million over three years. This one is expected to be for between $9 million and $10 million. Talks are not expected to take long.

Not surprising. Originally there were rumors of Girardi possibly leaving and going to the Cubs but I wouldn't understand that move. Stick to NY where you've got a great team to run and the money to improve.

^I thought for sure he was going to the Cubs
if the Cubs continued to suck to end the season, i think he would have
but Quade did a good job

as for this news
poor Yankee fans
its like Girardi regressed from when he was with the Marlins
he's not an awful manager, but he's not very good either
right in the middle....leaning closer to bad though

Yeah he certainly made some questionable pitching moves in the postseason. Liek you said hes not an awful manager but hes by no means a great manager.

I never expected him to go to the Cubs unless the Yankees lost interest in resigning him, and they seem to be eager to bring him back.

Heck, he made some questionable calls but won the WS with this club last season and brought them to the ALCS this year, so its tough to not give the man the money he wants.
