The Memphis Grizzlies Off Season So Far

The Memphis Grizzlies have been very busy this off season. They have made trades, made a lotto pick in the draft and brought in some decent role players through Free Agency. The Grizzlies believe this may be the year they finally get back into contention. On paper they look good but will all the pieces fit? The Grizzlies GM feels this is obviously a better team compared to the past teams. "We waited patiently with our youth and made some moves to finally get better. Will we be able to contend finally? Maybe. But we should at least be better than the previous years. If all fails we have our picks and other teams picks to further the youth movement. I think this team can make some noise in the West. But will still have Training camp and the rest of Free Agency to see what happens." said Grizzlies GM.

The first task completed in the off season was drafting Jackson Moore with the 13th pick. "Moore is a very big body and we feel has some decent potential to become a good role player for us. We will be working on his game significantly. Scoring and shooting will be something we look to help him develop. He is a very big body at small forward though so he may be able to bully some of the frailer players at the small forward position. With the big body he possesses we may even be able to play him at backup power forward but we will have to see how he plays before we do anything like that with Moore." said Grizzlies GM.

The Grizzlies are hoping for a great season from Blake

The next thing the Grizzlies accomplished was trading away some of their depth for the scoring machine Blake Griffin. Griffin will bring something the Grizzlies have been lacking for quite some times now; elite scoring. "Blake will start at small forward for the beginning of the season and we feel this will be a very significant move. He can score inside at an elite level and has some shooting ability. The defense will be above average and he gives us another very good rebounder at the small forward position. Allen, Vuc and Blake can all rebound at a high level and this is significant to us. We just hope he comes to camp ready to play" says Grizzlies GM. The Grizzlies moved one of their top youth pieces in Coby White. "We were hesitant to move White. The guy can and probably will be a very good player in this league. But we felt its time to compete. White was not getting the opportunity to show off his skills here. We hope he can be a good player for the Kings". The Grizzlies also added KCP who played small forward for them. "We felt KCP could not really play small forward and because we have a good amount of guards, KCP was moveable." The Grizzlies also had to move Nurkic for the trade to go through. "Moving Nurk was hard but we feel Vuc can take his spot. Vuc will bring us more shot blocking. Him next to Allen should make for a fun front court."

The last thing the Grizzlies accomplished so far this off season was re-signing Kevin Knox to a 3 year deal. "We feel Knox can be a good scorer for us. We will work with him some more on his scoring so he can eventually be that scorer who come off the bench. He is also only 23 so he has some potential in him to become better." The Grizzlies where lastly able to sign Alan Williams. "Alan Williams will be the first big off the bench for us. He brings solid defense but its the rebounding we are really happy for. That is we are focusing on for this upcoming season. Bigs who can play some defence but are also good rebounders."

The Grizzlies still have their MLE to pick up another significant piece to this team. Who will they get? "There are a good amount of players we like with the MLE. Hopefully we get one and fill out the rest of the team with some vet minimums." The Grizzlies are hoping for a very good season come this new season. With all the moves they have made so far, this may be what happens. "This may be the best team, on paper, we have ever had in our history. We have high hopes for this season. We are hoping to finally have some success in post season and have a healthy team throughout the season" says Grizzlies GM.
