The Grizzlies Off Season Recap

The Grizzlies had a fairly eventful off season. They made a few moves in the draft, through trades and in free agency. "We feel we have a very deep team right now. Are we going to make it far in the playoffs? Im not to sure about that but we feel we have a very good team. We made some moves this off season to deepen our roster. We still have lots of work to do if we want to become contenders." We will assess the Grizzlies off season and the moves they made.

In the draft the Grizzlies had the 15th pick. A number of players were on the board that the Grizzlies wanted. "We saw a few players that would have fit well in our system. One player was Elias Thigpen. We saw some good defensive potential in him and we were trying to get a late first to draft him. Unfortunately we couldn't acquire a pick. We decided on Tom Worsley, with the 15th pick, who we think can become a solid scoring guard. He will be developed through our g league system for this upcoming year. A player similar to DJ Augustine is what we are hoping he can become" said Grizzlies GM. "I am happy to be apart of this franchise. They develop their youth pretty well and i hope in the future to become a key player for this team." said Tom Worsley. "I have some really good vets in Augustine and Hill who can teach me a thing or two about becoming a good guard in this league.

The Grizzlies also made a few trades this offseason. One was to acquire Lonzo Ball for Jabari Parker. "Parker was going to be our backup small forward. But when the opportunity came to get Lonzo Ball for Parker we decided to do the trade. Ball can end up becoming a top defensive guard in the league. He can still become a better player. His shooting is what he is lacking in. We will see if we can fit this problem but if not he will still be a good player with the defence he brings." said Grizzlies GM. The Grizzlies do have a logjam at the guard position but they have faith they can balance out the team soon enough. The other trade the Grizzlies made was to move Zhaire Smith, Tyler Johnson and Kosta Koufos for George Hill. George Hill has been a top guard in the league for some time now. He is pretty old now but can still contribute. "We feel Hill can be a very good player for us this year. If he can still put up 20 ppg then we will be happy with that. The plan, for now, is to play Hill and Augustine together in the back court. We were reluctant to move tyler and zhaire but to get a player of Hill's calibre we had to make the move." said Grizzlies GM.

The Grizzlies were able to use their MLE on forward Terrence Jones. "Terrence is basically Noel. We like the idea of having those two backup Allen and Bamba with Bol Bol as our reserves reserve. He should be a key player for us this season."

The Grizzlies are pretty deep with all these moves they made but they feel they can make this team even better. "It all depends on how our youth develops in training camp and if our vets can still bring what they brought in pass years. We are currently looking for a backup small forward but other than that we will see what we currently have and mix up the line ups before we make a huge transaction. We will continue to be patient and make the right moves at the right time. Other that that expect the Grizzlies to finally be a team with playoffs on their minds."
