Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig has asked Jim Crane to agree to move the Astros to the American League if he's approved as owner.

Crane signed a sales purchase agreement in May to buy the team from Drayton McLane for $680 million, but Major League Baseball has yet to approve the deal.

The possible switch of leagues has kept the deal from being approved, according to the source.

Keep them in the NL......

Plus they already blow. So it's not like you are moving a good team over there that will struggle to adjust. They will suck regardless lol.

This makes no sense at all. They will do worse in the AL than in the NL, and they already have a diminishing fanbase.

Dont do it IMO

A switch to the AL could improve their fanbase. Or at least sell more tickets to their home games. Cause the fans won't be used to being able to go to games against the star teams in the AL. It would be exciting to them. The switch also makes their irrelevant team, relevant.

There is no reason to have 6 teams in one division, and 4 in another.

No sense at all? For starters, it would make all the divisions even. What makes no sense at all is there is a division with six teams and another with just four.

With 30 teams, there should be 15 teams in each with 5 in each division. It's only logical.

It makes no sense in terms of scheduling games.

For most of the season, aside from a few weeks of interleague play, teams in the NL play teams in the NL, and teams in the AL play teams in the AL. If you have an odd number of teams in both leagues, how are you going to make that work? Add 2 more teams to make it 32 teams in MLB?

I mean yeah, to even out the divisions it makes sense but in terms of scheduling it's going to be a conflict.

Nothing like seeing The Yankees, Red Sox, Rangers and Angels beating up the Astros lol.

If it would cause scheduling conflicts I don't think the MLB would ask them to move.

The thread title day say "Source". MLB might have never even asked them to move.

But if they did, that would mean that they're likely getting rid of inter-league play as it's currently constructed and the AL/NL teams would play each other a lot more. You can't have one team sitting out for 3 days at all times.

Exactly, perfectly said. Its a good idea, but it wont work because of scheduling conflicts.

people don't even like Interleague play and think it's a waste of time. MLB would be nuts to increase the amount of games they play each other.

Then of course Bud Selig is the Commissioner....
