-- On the one hand, a pitcher with shoulder trouble addressing the media following visits with a specialist is kinda ominous sounding.  Especially when rumors — denied by both the team and by Halladay’s people — have swirled that Halladay may choose to retire if his diagnosis is grim.

On the other hand, Charlie Manuel was just quotedas optimistic that Halladay will pitch again this season, though Manuel is nor privy to what’s going on down in L.A. where Halladay and his doctor is.  Either way, it’ll be a bit nerve wracking for Philly fans for the next half hour or so as they wait to see what Doc has to say.
We’ll provide updates once Doc speaks.

sounds like it may be a retirement thing. idk why theyd need a presser for anything but.

Roy Halladay to have surgery on shoulder

Roy Halladay confirmed Wednesday that he will have surgery on his right shoulder.

Halladay will have a bone spur removed from his shoulder as well as fraying of his labrum and rotator cuff addressed. The veteran right-hander is optimistic about pitching again this season, but we should have a better idea about a timetable once the surgery is completed. Halladay is in the final guaranteed year of a three-year, $60 million contract.

Wow that was weird. Like Pugz said there was no need for a presser other than to announce retirement.

you fuck with your shoulder and you're toast

look at Johan Santana. missed a whole year, came back last year and missed a lot of time, missing all of this year

Brandon Webb was an ace in 2008. left his first start in 2009 missed that whole year, missed 2010, 2011, 2012. retired
