FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports the Rangers are finalizing an agreement with free agent Lance Berkman.
Financial details aren't yet known, but it's expected to be a one-year deal with a vesting option. After an injury-marred 2012, Berkman will postpone retirement for at least another season and projects to open the year as the Rangers' primary designated hitter. His signing likely blocks Mike Olt from having an expanded role, while Mitch Moreland will remain the everyday first baseman.
