I don't know college enough to do a mock draft, but we should place a bet on the position Minnesota drafts. I say OL, you say WR. Sig/avatar bet? If it's neither, no one wins.
 
As for Dallas--that would sure make up for the first round flop RB that was Felix Jones.

First: I wouldn't make a draft-related bet this early, ever, unless it was painfully obvious to me.

If you ever paid attention in years past, I make like 15-20 mocks before the actual date. Why would I make a bet now?

Second: I'm on mobile because SI is blocked on my laptop, so I can only post while on 3G/LTE, so I can't even see sigs/avy's really, so that makes no sense for me.

Finally: there is a reason I'm not mocking you guys an OL

In my mind, there is one good OT in this draft, and it's Ereck Flowers. He'll be gone before you can even get him imo, since the Giants need an OT just as badly. The next best OL is Scherff, who any team that drafts him as an OT is going to get fucked. It took San Diego two years to realize Fluker is a guard, and if Minnesota makes that mistake I'd laugh. Scherff and Collins are guards, and you don't draft a guard at #11 overall when there are stud WRs available.

Andrus Peat is the next best OT, and imo, he's a gigantic reach at #11. I wouldn't take Peat before 15, and that's a stretch as it is. Vikings would be even more foolish to take Peat at 11 than to take a guard.

If Flowers is there, then yeah, take him. But he's not going to be, and no other OL is worth a spot that high. Parker is the #2 available player, behind Shelton, and it makes sense to give Bridgewater, the face of your franchise, a talented receiver that he trusts.

I literally can't find another mock draft where Mariota and Winston aren't gone by 6, yet you have them going 16 and 28. The logic?

Because people love to mock quarterbacks really early. The league is QB driven, and people want teams to get their franchise QBs.

Everyone wants their own Andrew Luck, but there isn't an Andrew Luck. Or anything near an Andrew Luck. These QBs just aren't that good, period. I like Mariota more than Winston, but Marcus is a project QB really.

Look, in the past two years, QBs were mocked early as well. I can't find many sources right now, but how many places mocked Geno Smith in the Top 5 back in February 2013? Like, all of them basically. Only one QB was a first rounder, and he went 16ty (which was too early as it is)

Last year this time, there were several mocks in which Bridgewater, Manziel, and Bortles all went Top 8. They all were first rounders, but two were only first rounders because they were drafted by a team's second 1st round selection. And those were 20+

You look at the teams this year, and who NEEDS a QB? Nobody really NEEDS one. Bucs, Titans, Jets, Skins, Bears, Saints, and the Texans could all use one, but do they NEED one? No.

Bucs will end up choosing the best, and safest, player in the draft, and that's Williams. Titans need edge rushers, and they have competent QBs they can use for a year until better prospects arrive (Hackenberg, Prescott, Hogan all could be better than Mariota/Winston). People want to give the Jets a new QB; I think they give Gailey and Bowles one more year of Geno, with more talent on that side of the ball (Decker and Cooper on the outside, with Harvin and Kerley in the slot? Help me)

Skins and Bears aren't drafting QBs this early, with what they invested with the QBs already on roster. And then you fall to the teens


People assumed Geno would be the #1 pick in 2013, as they did Bridgewater in 2014, and Winston in 2015. Fooled me once, you still got me. Fooled me twice, and I'm not falling for it a 3rd time

As a Canes fan, I'm curious as to why you're that high on Flowers.

Every offensive lineman in this draft has their own flaws, and I think Flowers' can be by far, the most coachable.

His feet move exceptionally well for a guy at his size (6'6" 320lb) and his hip movement is quite fluid as well. That's usually a problem for most young tackles. He gets beaten a bit by speed rushers, but not by normal edge guys. You can work with his quick feet to make him get to the outside easier, and he'll handle the speed rushers

He's a mauler in the running game as well, which is his main strength too. Overall, I just don't see an OT better than him in this draft. Is he better than Jake Matthews? No. But he's perfect for the Giants' current RT position
