Johnny Manziel could be benched for partying video

Video surfaced yesterday of Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel partying hard in Austin during the team’s bye week, and it may result in the former first-round pick being sent to the bench.

Speaking to reporters, Browns coach Mike Pettine did indeed present the possibility that Manziel would be benched for this weekend’s game against the Baltimore Ravens and called the video “disappointing.”

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported Pettine’s feelings on Twitter.

#Browns Pettine is obviously considering benching Manziel for #Ravens game: "it's disappointing. very"

The video surfaced just days after Manziel was named Cleveland’s starting quarterback for the rest of the season, and it’s looking like Manziel has once again thrown a key opportunity away. His wild off-field lifestyle has always been something of a concern in Cleveland’s front office, and Manziel even went to rehab during the offseason so that he could get his life in order.

Sure enough, in limited action this season, Manziel has looked like a different man. In Cleveland’s last game, a 30-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, he still managed to throw for 372 yards and a touchdown while completing 33 of 45 passes.
The potential is clearly there.

But more than half the battle of Manziel reaching that potential is keeping his life in order off the field, and the Browns are clearly taking a hard stance against his going out and partying hard. If he does get benched this weekend, he’ll have nobody to blame but himself.
Stay tuned to Campus Sports for further updates on Manziel’s status for Sunday night.

It's bullshit. He didn't do anything illegal.

Cleveland needs to get their shit together and let the kid play.

They sat down with him before the bye week and told him not to end up on TMZ.

And he literally ended up on TMZ for partying.

I don't have a problem with his partying, but the guy is not that good of a player, and has a history of not being focused since being here. It was an easy decision.

He'll be able to do plenty of livin' when he gets cut next week or in the off-season.

Are we even positive this video is recent? For all we know it could've been years ago.

Bingo.

Regardless, these idiots traded picks to draft a frat boy, so I don't know what they were expecting.

no it's not, it's only an issue because pettine made it an issue.  no one cares about this video if after he's asked about it he just says 'no comment'.

it became a giant shit-show when he went on his moral high horse and started going on about how it was disappointing and all of that garbage
