holy cow that's huge. i was getting worried about kemp. dodgers havent had a superstar in their prime for an extended period of time in a LONG timeThe Los Angeles Dodgers and Matt Kemp are in agreement on a deal that would land the 27-year-old outfielder $160 million over eight years, pending a physical, sources told FOXSports.com.
It would rank as the seventh-largest contract in baseball history.
Kemp's sixth season in the majors was his best. He hit .324 with personal highs of 39 home runs, 126 RBIs and 40 stolen bases in 2011. His .586 slugging percentage and .985 OPS were also career highs.
Kemp has produced 128 homers and a .294 batting average in 787 career games. He is also a two-time Gold Glove winner.
Kemp has one season left on a contract that paid him $7.1 million last season.
