Cubs signed OF David DeJesus to a two-year, $10 million contract with a club option for 2014.
He'll make $4.25 million each of the next two years while the $6.5 million option includes a $1.5 million buyout. While DeJesus figures to serve as the starting right fielder next season, the Cubs could have more flexibility if they find a taker for Alfonso Soriano. The 31-year-old is coming off a down season, but has a .284/.356/.421 career batting line and is regarded as a skilled and versatile defender. The lefty-hitter should benefit from a fantasy perspective by leaving O.co Coliseum behind. It's a nice buy-low signing by the Cubs' new front office.
