Cubs signed OF David DeJesus to a two-year, $10 million contract with a club option for 2014.
He'll make $4.25 million each of the next two years while the $6.5 million option includes a $1.5 million buyout. While DeJesus figures to serve as the starting right fielder next season, the Cubs could have more flexibility if they find a taker for Alfonso Soriano. The 31-year-old is coming off a down season, but has a .284/.356/.421 career batting line and is regarded as a skilled and versatile defender. The lefty-hitter should benefit from a fantasy perspective by leaving O.co Coliseum behind. It's a nice buy-low signing by the Cubs' new front office.

We're not gonna have much pop in the OF, if he's already being given the starting RF job.

This must also mean Soriano is either on the way out or Brett Jackson is going to start the year in AAA.
