CC To Opt Out?

The popular belief is that he will re-sign with the Yankees, but at least one rival general manager believes CC Sabathia will opt out of his contract.

After the 2011 season, Sabathia has four years and $92 million left on his contract. Assuming he has another stellar season, he could easily turn that into something longer.

"He's definitely opting out," one competing general manager said.

Why? lol

Who's going to pay him more money and give him a better chance to win? Nobody. The Sox and Phils can't afford what he's going to want and there's no on else in the league who would jump ahead of us in terms of being a competitor that could pay him.

SMH athletes these days acting like 23 million a year isn't enough.
I hope he gets less <_<
I really don't see him getting more.

He's not going to get a higher yearly salary, but he can get another 6-7 year deal at the end of the year, instead of his current deal expiring when he is 34-35 years old. Once he gets that old he isn't going to be getting any where near 20 million yearly.

this would be to give him a longer deal. tell me why people are saying hes greedy? you guys just assume he was to max his deal out at the end of the contract. it can be top heavy and worth the same amount of money just a longer deal..

He knows he has the leverage on the Yankees. Their rotation is average right now, and if CC left, it would be shit. Sabathia knows that, and could prob get the same annual salary as now, but for a 7 year deal instead of a 3.

CC wont leave the Yankees, but he's completely using them

CC saw what we offered Cliff Lee at his age... CC will want somewhere around the same.

he could, but the Yankees would probably not want to, knowing he'd be under contract for 3 more years still

He opts out, and he has full leverage on the Yankees. If he asks to re-sign, the Yankees have leverage, to a degree

If he does and the Red Sox get involved we are going to over pay his ass for sure. He knows that, that is why he is saying he will opt out.

He never even said he will, the title of this thread is misleading, a rival GM says he will according to this article.

Gonna edit the thread title by the way
