A's first baseman Daric Barton has been activated from the 15-day disabled list, the club announced Monday.
First baseman Brandon Allen was designated for assignment to make room for Barton.
Barton, 26, was placed on the DL retroactive to March 24 with a strained right shoulder. He played in only seven Spring Training games, batting .176 with one double. He started four games at first base for Triple-A Sacramento on a rehab assignment, going 7-for-19 with a homer and five RBIs.
