Its not just a baseball problem, because the NFL and NBA do it as well, but the fact that all these sports have the awards after the season is over is so goddamn stupid.

Does it really matter if your 2nd basemen wins a Gold Glove if you didn't accomplish your goal of a World Series? It looked pretty dumb to see Kawhi not get MVP votes after he carried Toronto to a title. The NFL at least does it the day before the Super Bowl, but thats still too late.

They're regular season awards, with zero impact on the playoffs. So put the goddamn awards right after the regular season, not months after it ends.

Probably the most accurate thing you've ever said :)

Don't they cast their votes before the postseason, it's just not announced until after?

That's correct. So why wait until now to announce it? Nobody cares about the regular season anymore.

I feel like they don't want to take away from the postseason. But I agree, it should be announced during. Hell, I think the World Series would have been a great stage to announce the MVP and Cy Young winners live.

Why not just announce it the day in between the regular season ending and the postseason starting? That's when it's most relevant.

Yordan Alvarez is the AL Rookie of the Year. Well-deserved award. He was, for a time, the best hitter on the best team in baseball.

Justin Verlander and Jacob DeGrom take home the Cy Youngs. I'm glad that Kate Upton won't be upset this winter. I'd hate for her to take it out on Justin.
